Glastonbury

Uniquely Strange, Magical and Mythical

On this page you will find some basic information about public activities and groups I am involved with in Glastonbury - the town I call home here in Somerset, England.   Including the Pomona Project (Future Forest Garden); The Library of Avalon; The Sanctuary of Hekate Soteira and Arcana Arcanum (Esoteric Tarot Circle).  Scroll down for more on each.

Glastonbury is an unique market town in Somerset, England which is known around the world as a site of spiritual pilgrimage.  Unlike many other sites of spiritual pilgrimage visitors come to Glastonbury  for different reasons.  The Tor, the Chalice Well (Red Spring) or the White Spring, the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, the (alleged) grave of King Arthur and his Queen Guinevere, Wearyall Hill the Somerset Levels and its ancient Sweet Tracks, the starling mumerations and the landscape as a whole.  Some come for the witchcraft and yoga, new age and other alternative shopping - and others for retreats, spiritual workshops and everything in between.

What I do here

Clue: Not quite "eye of newt" but I do a lot of things with plants, trees and magic :-)

This section of my website is dedicated to the things I am involved with and do which are specific to Glastonbury.  It will be updated as I get time to add more!

The Pomona Project

With Lokabandhu I have been involved in starting this project a few months after the land was purchased in 2012.  At first we planted mostly native hedging, and by 2013 we planted a small grove of apple trees to be a sacred place on the slopes of the Tor which we hoped to be able to share with people into the future.  These trees are now all producing an abundance of blossom and fruit each year, in addition to many other trees we planted over the years.  From 2023 we will be actively working, with volunteers and friends, to transform this land into a future forest garden, producing food for humans, animals, insects and the land itself, as well as providing community spaces for special ceremonies and gatherings (multi-faith and secular).

We host regular volunteer days where those of you, who like us, enjoy digging, growing and rewilding can come and join us in whatever seasonal work needs doing.  Pruning, weeding, clearing, planting, seeding - with occasional cups of tea, cake and all sorts!   If that sounds like something you would like to be part of, please join my mailinglist and follow my blog for updates.

The Library of Avalon

The oldest public esoteric library in Europe!

In 2022 I was asked to take on the role of Patron to the Library of Avalon.  This role was previously held by the author and historian Geoffrey Ashe.

It is of course a great honour to be able to represent this unique collection of books and the space and promote it to a new generation of people whose research and work will be enriched by its use.

If you find yourself in Glastonbury, make sure to go and visit!
(all welcome to enter and browse during opening hours, no membership required - and donations of books - both old and new always appreciated!)

The Arcana Arcanum

Glastonbury's Tarot & Esoteric Circle

Starting in 2023 this gathering happens on the last Monday of the month in a private home in Glastonbury.  We gather to share and deepen our knowledge of the Tarot and other related esoteric topics.  Participation is by invite only and places are limited.  For more information see The Arcana Arcanum Glastonbury.

The Sanctuary of Hekate Soteira

A Sanctuary of the Covenant of Hekate - www.hekatecovenant.com

Founded in 2010 the Sanctuary of Hekate Soteira was one of the first sanctuaries in the Covenant of Hekate, hosting both physical and online gatherings facilitated by Sorita d'Este since.

We have ad hoc meetings throughout the year - indoors and outdoors.

Our meetings are focussed on devotion to the many named Mother of the Gods, the Triple Goddess of Crossroads Hekate within a polytheistic praxis, drawing on Hellenic, Orphic and contemporary Pagan rituals for inspiration.

The Sanctuary is open to all those interested in the Goddess Hekate, and who would like to be part of a devotional ceremonies to Her.  If you live in, or are within travelling distance of Glastonbury (which is where we hold our meetings) you are welcome to get in touch for more information.
